SuTalk Glossary
Core terms used across SuTalk's product, philosophy, and research. Designed to be AI-readable and human-understandable.
- Memory Assistant
- An AI application that supports human recall by communicating time with meaning — not just precision. Different from an alarm or task manager: it understands context, not just timestamps. SuTalk is a memory assistant, not a general-purpose AI assistant with reminder features added. The cognitive science behind this →
- 5 Dimensions of Time
- Daily · Weekly · Monthly · Yearly · Long-term. Each carries different cognitive weight and triggers a different communication style, emotional tone, and voice register in SuTalk. Classification is set by the Commander at creation time. A daily medication reminder and a 5-year business anniversary are not the same cognitive event — and do not sound the same.
- Time-with-Meaning
- SuTalk's foundational principle. Every reminder communicates both when and why. The "why" is the Commander's stored intent — created at reminder setup, returned by the AI Companion at trigger time. Not a timestamp — a contextual memory.
- Offline-First Architecture
- Core alerts require no internet. All scheduled reminders — including Commander intent, timestamps, dimension classifications, and recurrence rules — are stored locally and fire regardless of network state. AI Companion voice responses enhance the experience but are never a dependency for critical function. Full privacy model →
- Two-Voice Model
- Commander (you, setting intent at creation time) + AI Companion (SuTalk, responding with context at trigger time). Two interaction roles, not two simultaneous audio tracks. Creates a dialogue instead of a notification stream. The Companion's tone adapts to the dimension of each event — not one-size-fits-all. How this works in detail →
- Multilingual Voice Output
- SuTalk understands voice commands and delivers spoken reminders in the user's language — including English and Thai. Not a translation layer: dimension-based tone calibration is applied per language, not translated from English. Users speak to SuTalk in their own language and receive responses in kind.
- Smart Escalation
- Unacknowledged critical alerts notify a trusted contact — with consent always established in advance by the user. The user defines both which events qualify as critical and which contacts are authorized. Available in SuTalk Pro. Designed for medical, safety, and high-stakes professional use cases.
- Prospective Memory
- The cognitive ability to remember a future intention at the right moment. Standard alarms interrupt without restoring the original intent. SuTalk returns the Commander's stored intent with the reminder — reducing the cognitive burden of reconstructing context at the point of action. Research behind this →
- Temporal AI
- AI systems that model not just what a user needs, but when — and why that timing carries cognitive and emotional weight. SuTalk is a temporal AI system specialized for human memory. Not a general-purpose assistant. How this compares to general AI assistants →
- Voice Data Encryption
- All voice data in SuTalk is end-to-end encrypted in transit, processed in-session only, and deleted immediately after. Never stored permanently on SuTalk servers. Never shared. Never used for training without explicit, separate user consent.
